An emotional Trent said: "I genuinely can't believe what's happened, I'm heartbroken, if I'm honest, I'm heartbroken, he was amazing, honestly amazing, on and off the pitch, a true gentleman in every sense of the word."
He continued: "Love, thoughts, prayers and heart goes to his family, him and Andre's family who will be, I can't even describe how they must feel because I can't describe how I feel right now, it's still something that hard to really put into words but these things don't really happen.
“For it to happen to someone who you're so close with, someone that you would easily call a friend, who you laughed with and loved on and off the pitch and shared amazing memories and moments with is something that you can't really put into words, it's hugely devastating for a lot of us.
“It's amazing to see how the world united, everyone in football and outside of football too came together, showed their support and I love Diogo and his brother, I'm sure his family and friends really appreciate it but my heart goes to them in this devastatingly hard period.”

"We were rivals and team-mates for many years. He became a great friend. He was present at my wedding. Unfortunately, I wasn't at his, because I was at the Club World Cup.
"It is a family that will always be with us and that we will try to preserve."
Diogo Jota's former club Wolverhampton Wanderers have just posted a beautiful tribute to the Portuguese star.
Jota joined Wolves initially on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017, but signed permanently the following year after helping to lead the club to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.
He was such a success that he attracted the attention of Liverpool in 2020, where he went on to win the Premier League title , FA Cup, two Carabao Cups and played in a Champions League final.
Jota still fondly remembered his spell at Wolves, though, and the club have now released their memorial video for the forward.

And he sent a message to Jota's wife, Rute, that he will 'be with you soon' in support after her husband's tragic passing just 11 days after their wedding.
Alisson posted on Instagram this morning, alongside a picture of both players and their families and a verse from the Bible.
He said: "Usually, I post things that make sense, but today, nothing makes sense!
"Once again, an ocean separates me from “saying goodbye” to someone I love! But I know that I am well represented by my club mates!
